I'm looking in to buying a short-term CD. Should I go straight to my bank or should I look into brokered CDs where I can get better yield-to-maturity?

Hi Ari,

If it were me, I'd start by looking in a few key places like http://bestcashcow.com/ , http://credituniondeals.com/, and http://bankdeals.blogspot.com/ to see what the best going rates are for the term you're looking for.

After that, I'd check my bank and CD broker to see if they will match or beat these offerings.

In my experience, the best CD rates available direct from the issuers generally offer better yields than brokered CDs. This makes sense because brokered CDs generally need to build a commission for the broker into their rate.
