With most cards, you can probably log into your account online and they should have a place for you to apply for a higher limit. With some, they will run a credit check on your and you would have to provide information such as your household income.

I personally have a Citibank card and sometimes their website will just give me an increase right then and there, but sometimes, it will ask me for additional info to pull my credit report.
