Does getting Social Security affect my getting unemployment benefits?

  •

I am 67 yeas old, and have worked 30 years as a full time employee. I came back 6 months after retiring in 2005 as a part time employee. Within the last 6 months I have slowly been reduced to only 4 hours work each week. I now find out that I have 0 hours scheduled. Does my receiving Socialy Security affect my ability to collect unemployment benefits?

According to some of the information, I think I understand that if a person is drawing unemployment, their receiving Social Security will not be afected. Is this true?

Good Morning Lillian. By the looks you never got an answer to your question. While I'm not quite yet as 'mature' as you are, I am eligible to collect social security and I would realy like to get an answer. Did you ever find out from other sources? My job is being outsourced to Central America and If I can collect both SS$ and unemployment at the same time, it would make my life a lot easier. Thanks and good luck. Guy
