Great post from our friend TheFinanceBuff here - http://thefinancebuff.com/2009/03/2009-amt-tax-brackets.html. The Buff has been on top of the AMT topic and breaking down the tax rates paid at certain tax levels. Make sure to read his back commentary on how he works out the rates.

The stimulus bill includes a one year "patch" for the AMT. This is Congress' way of saying they realize that the AMT is a problem but they still won't commit to fixing it permanently. So, for 2009, the AMT exemption amounts have been bumped up to $70,950 for married couples and $46,700 for individual taxpayers.
