Amanda asked 6 months ago in Credit Score

I don't have a credit card but I am making car payments with a cosigner. Will I have a credit score?

I am about to go through a credit check because I am applying to get my own apartment, but I have never had a credit card just a debit card. I am making car payments, of which some I have been late on. Will I have a bad credit score?

There are numerous ways to help or hurt your credit score other than a credit card. I would suggest that you pull your credit so that you have a better idea what is on it before you apply for the apartment. I pull my credit every few months to see what is on there and often I find mistakes. I have also found things from years back, a $20 Dr. bill that I forgot to pay for example.

Take a moment to read this short guide on credit and let us know what your next steps are: http://www.filife.com/guides/all-about-credit-scores-and-credit-reports

So Paul I'm just curious about the $20 Dr. bill, did you pay it? That's where I have a problem at is I use to have really good credit until I lost a job and was way in over my head. I have defaulted on past medical bills, a car loan and a signature loan in the past. I mean what can I do to fix my credit? I don't have any credit cards...thank god! I really want to get back to the place when I had really good credit.
