Dear Kristen , thank you for your reply.
I was layed off, when that happened most of the people I worked for went to work for different companies. I was unable to locate them because I was a merchandiser on the road and the company was in TX. .Because of that I had little knowledge that the company was being sold and there was only a few people I was in contact with on the job.
I don't know the fund provider, and have tried unsuccessfully contacting my former supervisor Al XXXX.. he
might have gone to Samsung?
I was raising 2 small twin girls as a single mother and did not have the resource to keep track of where the company went and who went them, I did become homeless with my girls for a while also living with different relative and trying to start over . and now that they are grown and I am in a better position to search for my 401 k. I have bee looking aggressively. I did find a term called "Orphaned 401 k"
I also called the Tandy Elec.Corp about 2 years ago and just got the run a round w/ HR The only response to my questions and concerns was that " Tandy was sold" ,, that was all they could tell me. I just recently learned , the Headquarters .. 1800 one Tandy Center Fort Worth TX is no longer,
Thus far :
Tandy sold to AST Computers 1992
AST Computers sold to AST Research
AST Research sold to Samsung 2003

One more of important info is I worked for the Division of Memtek Products under the Tandy name.
This as far as I have gotten,What do you suggest ? Samsung is a huge company not sure how to go about asking about Al XXXXX ..............his is the only name I have..
Thank you
Pam

Hi Pamaved-

This is a tough one. Any chance you remember who your fund provider was (like Vanguard or Schwab for example)? Are you in touch with any old colleagues who might remember? If you can track down the provider's name then I'd start by contacting them.

If not - then a good bet is Samsung's HR office.

Unfortunately this is a reminder of the virtues of rolling your 401k into an IRA after you leave a company.

I might begin with Bank One, Texas as they are listed as the trustee in a number of SEC filings

Salary and Investment Plan (the "Plan") provides only general
information. Participants should refer to the Plan
prospectus, the DIP/TESOP summary plan description or the

income and makes distributions to the participants.

Certain administrative functions are performed by employees of
the Company with no compensation from the Plan. Administrative
expenses and Trustee fees are paid directly by the Company.

"Company," and Bank One, Texas, NA hereinafter called "Trustee;"

You can view all Radio Shack/Tandy 401k related filings here:

The older filings are Tandy.

Good luck,

It's a long-shot, but try the National Registry of UnClaimed Retirement benefits. It's a free web search using your Social Security number.

Have you tried Radio Shack? Tandy Corp no longer exists, they changed their name a few years ago to Radio Shack, because it was their only successful division.
