3.5% from HSBC is about as good as you're going to get these days. I just noticed a commercial yesterday announcing that they are extending this rate through September. Check out this review by Tom
Gino45, the best nationally available savings rate that requiring no minimum of which I'm currently aware is the 3.75% at Alliant Credit Union (see http://www.alliantcreditunion.org/depositsinvestments/savings/regularsavings/ ).
But you may also want to give "rewards checking" accounts a look as well. If you want to save less than $25-50,000 and don't mind using a debit card for small purchases, that may allow you to earn significantly greater interest and have greater withdrawal flexibility than a high-yield savings account would provide.
