Private Loan Consolidation

Are there any companies that you know of that have a fixed interest rate for private student loans?

No lender currently offers fixed-rate consolidation for private student loans. Previously there were two lenders that offered such loans (Citi Student Loan Corporation and Education Finance Partners), but both lenders have stopped making such loans.

Your best option for refinancing private student loans into a fixed rate loan is to obtain a fixed rate home equity loan.

Otherwise, try to target the private student loans for early repayment by using any extra money to pay down the balance. Education loans do not have prepayment penalties.
