Problem with lost card

I purchased a card as a gift the day after Christmas. It was a $50 gift card - the next day I noticed it was missing after a family get together. I went back to the PNC branch where I purchased it. The customer service rep. wanted to immediately replace it - but card services told her it had to be mailed. It took a week - remember this was a christmas gift for someone so I was embarrassed by having to wait - then when I received it - $15 was deducted to replace the card. When I called card services the girl said there is nothing I can do. Now I was double embarrassed because the %40 gift became $35. what can be done about this. This is the first - AND LAST gift card I will evenr purchase.

Unfortunately, replacement fees on gift cards are common..and often, they can't be replaced at all.

I might see if PNC has a gift card customer service center you can call. Perhaps if you politely appeal to a supervisor, they can get the fee waived for you, or have the difference applied to another gift card. But honestly, your odds of success are probably low, and I wouldn't spend much time on this.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
