You should be able to, though perhaps at higher rates than someone without your condition.
Your kidney disease is an example of what insurers call a "pre-existing condition". Generally, even if they will insure you, they will not cover expenses related to pre-existing conditions until after a waiting period has passed. After that, it will be treated like any other health care need.
Note that if you are having problems with private insurers granting you coverage, your state may offer an insurance plan specifically designed for residents like yourself. Check with your insurance commissioner to see what's available.
