What are some tips for TV costs on a budget?

It's been some time since I've had cable TV, but with the recent switch to digital (which of course switched off my TV access on Game 7 of the Stanely Cup!), I'm reconsidering what's out there.

But back to the reason for not having cable before - I've never wanted to pay the cost. So far, I've been able to get a lot with hulu, off and on netflick subscription, and going directly to the network websites (for my Lost fix).

What I'd really like though are 'live' news channels; especially business news channels like CNBC or Bloomberg. You can pay for a CNBC web subscription, but I'm curious if there are other options out there.

So, what are you doing as TV alternatives? Any thoughts on my dilemma above to avoid the cost of cable TV?

My Two Dollars has listed a nice collection of places to watch TV for free. TV Web 360 actually has 27 News specific sites that you can watch for free!

Robert, there's a list of web sites that provide free TV programming at http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/10/01/where-to-find-your-favorite-shows-online/. Hopefully that will help some.

I'm not sure if there are any free live feeds for CNBC and Bloomberg, as that would be defeating their business plan. But, Bloomberg offers all sorts of free podcasts and older clips http://www.bloomberg.com/tvradio/podcast/

It would be great if you could pay Bloomberg to stream live video, but I'm not sure if that exists.

I really like Hulu which is online TV. It is free but you need high speed internet. You jut log in and it will stack your programs you like, like a DVR. I know many friends who are getting rid of cable. Many websites ie AMC also show their programs online now too.
