I think it will all depend on how they approach the Hedo Turkoglu contract situation. All signs point to him opting out, but in this financial climate is opting out even a viable move for NBA players? What are the chances a team is going to blow the bank to sign Turkoglu the year before the 2010 free agent bonanza. It seems unlikely. The best move for all involved is for Turkoglu to stay and for the Magic to reward him with a contact extension in 2010. With the nucleus of Howard, Lewis, Turkoglu, along with role players Courtney Lee, Mickael Pietrus, the Magic can legitimately contend again next year. But, for the franchise to return to the finals, complacency will not work. They most certainly will need to add a piece to keep up with the Cavs, presumably rejuvenated Celtics, upcoming Bulls, and the West (which features the same Lakers team a year older, a growing Nuggets squad, and a Spurs team making moves). Unless they blow up their team, I expect they'll make the playoffs, win a first round series, and from there it will depends on the competition.
