Brothers John, Paul and Bill Amos founded Aflac in 1955, which is currently a Fortune 500 company. Aflac Incorporated is an international holding company based in Columbus, Georgia and introduced one of the world's first cancer expense insurance policies in 1958. Since the 1980s, Aflac Insurance has added many new types of insurance policies, including accident, short term disability, hospital intensive care, hospital confinement indemnity, long term care, specified health event, life, dental and vision insurance. The company has a presence in all 50 states and in U.S. territories and more than 69,000 licensed agents. Aflac offers a broad line of insurance policies to more than 400,000 U.S. payroll groups and insures more than 40 million people worldwide. Assets at year end 2007 totaled more than $65 billion with annual revenues of more than $15.4 billion.
