Wow i wish i had read this before I set up an accout with Associate Bank. Associated bank is the worst bank i have ever used . I have had my account with them for three weeks and have already had problems. First of all my girl friend and i set up accounts the same day. I recieved my card and pin the following week, but she stilll has not recieved her debit card even till this day. Then i go in and the guy at the front desk tells me i have more then i do. So i pull out my book were i write everything down and show him its not right, But he swears to me that i have 200 more dollars then i do, that i miss calculated, that all the pending stuff went through and it was up to date. So the next day i try to go bye a drink and it gets declined. How does this happen i deposited 500 the day before and he said it was up to date. were did my money go? I hope everyone reads this and makes a good choice by not using Associates bank. RATING: -1000/10

I to will have to agree with the majority of the people here and rate Associated bank as thee worst bank EVER!! I have paid so many ridiculous overdraft fees because there BUSINESS day ends at a certain time!! I have had to pay excessive use fees for my savings account!! I have had my savings account with them for 5 years and have never heard of such a thing and now all of a sudden I am being charged $10.00 for excessive use?!?!? I mean it's not like the money is not in there, I have to pay to use my own money!! And now I am not even able to use it because I have went over the amount of times I can withdraw money from it?!?! That is ridiculous. they charge $34.00 for a $2.00 overdraft that I put back in there as soon as I noticed it was overdrawn which happened to be the same night, but since it was past there cut off time, it didn't count until the next day. This bank is nothing but a bunch of thieves!!! Put your money in this bank and you might as well kiss it goodbye!!

PART ONE:

I tried to set it up so overdrafts were declined/blocked when I first opened an account with them, and a person told me it was all set it up to decline any attempted overdraft. (I am now absolutely convinced that whatever he had me sign he later took to the bathroom and wiped his ass with, because this document I had signed dissapeared into the annuals of history and had no relevance of any sort to anything). I was 100% clear to him when I said I wanted overdrafts declined, and he made it 100% clear (he lied through his teeth) that he had put it into the system to make this happen.

6 months later when I accidentally overdrafted, I asked why this had happened since I had set it up so any overdraft would be declined. They told me no such service was put into place and no service or addition of any sort was added regarding overdrafts. After telling him about 700 times that there must be a mistake, I finally came to the conclusion that the handshake and verbal contract I had made 6 months ago was worthless and that the guy who I talked to 6 months ago had handed me a piece of toilet paper to sign.

From my look of extreme anger and bewilderment, the person offered me the ability to decline/block overdrafts. Apparantly you have to be homicidally angry for them to finally get the picture THAT YOU WANT THE DAMN OVERDRAFTS DECLINED.

And so begins the greatest bank racket ever concieved, the over draft fee. (for which I knew about and tried to prevent from happening, but they went ahead and did it anyway, "as a service" of course)

Also known as the 38 dollar burger, or the 1500% interest payday loan. After all the alterations made to my bank history (see part 2 of this story) I ended up with 7 of these 1500% interest loans.

PART TWO:

The.sequence of operations in my checking account was altered frequently for one week (not by an automated system, but handcrafted by someone who was apparantly very good at altering history to maximize fees).

For a whole week I looked at my online checking statement, and the order in which the transactions had gone through had changed at least 10 times.

I know it is standard bank practice to put the largest fees into the system first (in order to maximize overdraft fees), but is it standard bank practice for an actual real life person to repeatedly alter the sequence of bank transactions at his own transgression.

The actual amount I had borrowed from them was $11 (rounding up) from the bank. After all the smoke had cleared, they had pillaged my pay check, which conveniently was put through their system just barely after all the overdrafts had taken place (just absolutely spectacular the way they revised my transaction history so many times and finally managed to alter it for the maximum possible screwage). They pillaged over $250 from me for $11 freaking dollars....unbelievable.

I'm sure it goes without saying, I don't bank with Associated any more and I warn every friend/acquaintence to avoid Associated Bank like the plague.

CONCLUSION:

An Associated Bank employee's word is as good as garbage and the revisionist history techniques they employ would make Joseph Stalin blush.

Associated Bank is a 1st degree murderer in a sea of criminals of varying degree. I literally would rather hand my money over to a gangster than Associated Bank.

I knew about the overdraft fees and asked to have em declined, and they went ahead and did it to me anyway (more specifically, that scumbag liar I talked to six months ago, for which i'm sure Hell has their doors wide open and ready for). And for the rest of the people who were involved in this debacle, especially "Stalin the Webmaster", may God have mercy on their souls.

This bank is commonly referred to as Ass Bank for a number of reasons. We had accounts with them years ago and would never go back. They are the king of fees and penalties.Oh,and what a nice thing they did by taking bailout money.I guess they don't share the same Wisconsin values their customer do!

I am disgusted with this Wisconsin Bank for taking bailout money--even though it wasn't failing!--and then planning to send "valued employees" to Puerto Rico. We, the tax payers, cut back and they dare to even think this trip is an alright thing to do!

I have recieved my child support for the last 5 years every other Wednesday. They cleared it on Thursday last week so they could chargee me an overdraft fee. The 24 hour hold on deposits is ridiculous, they have no problem clearing withdrawls ASAP. Overall the worst bank ever.

Associated Bank charged me 4 overdraft fees of $34 when they took more than 2 days to clear my paycheck. My account showed it was there when I checked online. 36 hours after the deposit they overdraft charged my account for $136 for 4 checks totalling about $60. Why? My paycheck hadnt cleared their "system" yet. Funny, when I go to WalMart and pay by check, it is subtracted immediately from my account. So I guess WalMart's check clearing is a little more streamlined than Associated's. They are crooks! STAY AWAY!

I have had several issues over the past year with the bank pending cash transactions at the branch and charging fees for these transactions a week or two later. I never recovered any of the fees and never got a good explanation. Only plus, I suppose, is that I easily got a person on the phone whenever I called, though it never did much good once I did. I'm closing my account this week and would advise others to steer clear of the headaches.

Associated bank is a fine banking institiution. They offer a 24/7 phone banking service that allows you to check your balance, hear recent transactions and even transfer funds. This service makes it real easy to find what your last purchase was if you lost a receipt and need to find the price and write it in your register.

They also have a sort of "overdraft forgiveness." Although they do not advertise anything of the nature, they are always willing to negotiate your overdraft and will even sometimes reverse your fees.

I'm disgusted with how pushy - salesy - slimey Associated Bank is. They pushed and pushed me two years ago to sign on and set up my HSA Acct with them linked to a Checking Acct so the Banker could get credit for signing another customer. They have caused me nothing but stress. Their customer service associates are super Rude. HSA's are messed up from the Get-go and they won't even stand up for their company and fix the fact that their banker set my HSA up incorrectly and has costed me hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees - that isnt even$ they made. They're a scam. Do not bank here. All they care about is $, not customers. I'm closing all of my accounts and encouraging my company to bank HSA's else where. The new way for Banks to scam their customers.
