I have a Universal Card with Citibank which has NEVER been late, overlimit, anything. found out today that the interest rate has been raised to 24.99% across the board... So, you penalize the people who do pay because you as a company made bad business decisions.... Smart!! Needless to say the account is now closed. Oh well...
Don't ever sign up for IdentityMonitor through Citibank. Their practices are preditory and they offer no help for unwitting enrollees.
Citibank has a very efficient staff whenever I have gone into their bank. However, I have had problems transferring money through them. I would make a money transfer order over the internet and it would not show up for a full 24 hours. This task was advertised as being immediate, which is a huge reason why I signed up with them. Additionally, Citibank never sent me my free checks when I first got the card. I think this was due to their office in Los Angeles, where I had been living. Their staff in New York seems more on top of it.
I used citifi for a personal loan to pay off credit card debt. I had no problems with the payments, other than poor online management. I would recommend them, but I am unsure if they are considered a "consumer finance" mark. I dealt with a local office, rather than online.
I had a Citibank credit card for many years, but after a couple bad experiences I stopped using it. Citibank tends to bully their cardusers and I do not appreciate being treated that way. I no longer recommend Citibank; I think there are much better cards out there. Chase, for instance, is much more accommodating and treats their customers with respect.
I have had a citibank card for about 3 years. I never had any problems until recently, when I could not pay the entire balance that month, and my interest rate went up!
It is expensive to carry any balance on this card now. I will be far more careful in the future.
I've had a Citibank checking account for more than 10 years now and I've been very pleased with their service. There have been a few instances where my account reflected charges that I didn't make and Citi waived those charges without a problem. They clear checks quickly and they have ATMs everywhere. Compared to other banks that I've used in the past, Citibank gets a gold star.
I have had a Citi Platnium card for many years. I have never had a problem with Citi Bank. My credit card number was stolen a few years back and Citibank contacted me before I even knew it was stolen. They cleared everything up quickly and res issued me a new account number.
I prefer my Discover card but use the Citi card anywhere Discover isn't accepted.
I have selected Citibank in order to invest my saving into a long term bond with "a higher than" market interest rate. They did not fail me, since my personal banker, whom I give a call on monthly basis, advise me on time to purchase such a bond.
Besides this Citibank charges a monthly fee way more far higher than others, but this shall be of no significance since they do deserve it.
Sorry to hear about Citi, the employees have been fairly nice to me during this crisis. On the truthful side, Citi was one of the first banks to start playing with my account last year. I was doing ok, and one day last fall, I got a letter from Citi saying I had over charged several hundred dollars, and I was now to pay over charges for my account. They requested several hundred dollars to which I did not have in addition to paying other bills. At that time, I realized that Citi wanted to make money off their customers, so they started charging excessive interest rates and fees even on customers who had been loyal to them. Anyway, how do you overcharge on a credit card? You do not, for you will not be approved for your purchase. This was a way to make money off the customer when the customers were not purchasing any goods or supplies which continued to hurt the market. Yes, Citi is a leader and plays a big role in abusing their true customers and them trying to make money off their illegal actions. I am surprised that the people have allowed this kind of business to go on. I feel sorry for the people who work for them, for I worked in a bank and I know first hand how they will cheat their employees if possible as well as they do their customers. So sorry.
