Based in Minneapolis, Minn., Fair Isaac Corporation helps translate credit reports into credit scores. The company's proprietary FICO score formula is used by the three major credit reporting firms - and subsequently by lenders, employers, landlords and others - to get a grasp on a consumer's credit-worthiness.
