CO-SIGNERS BEWARE! Do not use Firstmark for your student loans. Without my knowledge, my son was late on a consolidated loan with Firstmark. Without informing me of his late payment, they proceeded to not only damage my credit report for the incident, but listed it as three defaults because there were three loans that made up the consolidation. When I contacted them by phone they rudely told me (and this is almost a direct quote) that it was up to me to know when the borrower has not made payment and that they don't care that they failed to notify me so I could handle my obligation before it became so delinquent. Of course I paid the outstanding amount as soon as I became aware of it. But they didn't care. DO NOT BE A FOOL! USE ANOTHER LENDER. THESE PEOPLE ARE DEVIOUS AND EMPLOY ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. I now use other lenders.
