Horace Mann Insurance Reviews

I cannot recommend a company named after the father of American education when they are actively engaging in outsourcing American Jobs to India. Seems like a nice way to support our educational institutions in our country, I think Horace Mann would roll over in his grave if he knew an institution with his name was taking Jobs away from American children before they even graduated.

Where are you getting your information. Horace Mann does not outsource anything to India. The majority of employees live in Springfield Ill.

Maybe you should contact Horace Mann and ask why all of the IT executives just returned from India?

Horace Man is NOT a good company. I have had them for years and did one claim on a pipe leakage and they cancelled me. After spending an entire morning with them on the phone, disputing that I did not cancel the policy, when they kept telling me that it was ME who cancelled it, they were able to admit that it was there fault. I will no longer do business with them!

Wow this all suprises me I have had 2 agents with Horace Mann and they both bent over backwards for me. Hell yes their homeoffice customer service sucks, but seriously every companies customer service sucks have you tried to call comcast, verzion, at&t, dish etc. I have learned to go straight to my agent, I have never seen someone fight for me as much as he did. It looks like its an agent to agent basis. I lost my home to a fire my agent saw it on the news drove 45min at 11:30 pm to see if i was ok. He helped my family and I get a hotel and continued to assure me it will be ok. Damn if he was right my life was shattered all our stuff gone and yet a man I only spoke with on the phone showed up and helped make a horrible situation toleratble. I really reccomend Maynard Idleman in Roseville, Ca I could not ask for any one better He alone is why I am with this company.

I have a small Claim with this company. A lady merged into my lane while I was driving. The damage was none to hers and my front left end was ripped up a little. I decided to make a claim since the car was my G/F and the only thing i did wrong was not slam on the breaks fast enough. 2 estimates for around 1k. The body shop told me not to expect any quick action from Horace Mann. My G/F has been kicked around on the phone. I feel like horace mann is punishing me for getting hit by there client. I have a feeling there are going to be alot more phone calls and emails and i'll probably contact Minnesota Department of Commerce over the $1k dollers. Why do we have to have insurance again?

I have to admit I read these reviews and I am confused. I have been with the company for years and my agent is awesome. I think that is probably the key but my agent is great. I have lived in a couple different states and have had great agents whereve I got.

I can not recommend Horace Mann Insurance.
I just switched all my car insurance away from Horace Mann Insurance, because of the way I was treated by their claims estimator and Utah state level manager. I had photos and witnesses, but they were not interested in them. The new company is saving us more than $1000 per year on 4 vehicles, with a lower deductible. My advice keep shopping, I wish I had.

Having a claim with Horace Mann was dreadful. Getting a return call was close to impossible and they fought on every amount.

Has anyone else had their homeowner's insurance canceled by Horace Mann recently? If so, please contact me at loftuskp@aol.com. After more than 10 years with HM they took damage to my home from one raccoon and turned it into 3 claims and then canceled me for having 3 claims in one year. After I filed a complaint with the IL Dept of Ins they reduced it to 2 claims and returned one of my $500 deductibles, but said they were still canceling me. I feel this is because I am a single-woman homeowner in my 50's. I have a hearing pending with the Dept of Ins re: fighting their discriminatory cancelation practices, and so am interested in similar experiences.

yea, they cancelled me after 2 months because when i bought my house the electric had some problems. the problems were fixed for weeks and i had no clue they were even cancelling me until after they sent a certified letter. even after i had the electric inspected (and paid $140 to do so) they told me it still wasn't good enough. i'm switching my homeowners and auto from the crooks.

I have had Horace Mann insurance for 2.5 years. My Mazda Protege was hit by a leaf spring that broke off of an SUV we were following. This 15 pound piece of metal dented the hood of the car and spiderwebed the windshield. Horace Mann sent me to their insurance adjuster, Abbra Auto Body. They said they would only pound the dent out but they would not match the paint. Minnesota law states that you can get your vehicle repaired at the body shop of your choice. Our shop recommended that the hood be replaced and they even offered to match the paint. Guess what? Horace Mann refused to pay for it. They would only pay to have the dent pounded out. Well, you can still see some of the dent. Horace Mann's customer service was very rude on the phone and it took over 3 weeks to get approval to fix the vehicle. Horace Mann's claims department was angry that I had the windshield fixed the next day. We have full coverage on window glass. Guess they wanted me to drive with a shattered windshield for 3 weeks. I give Horace Mann an "F" Even if you have to pay more for insurance at another company - Do it. You'll be glad you did.

My car was hit by someone insured by this company. The agent I dealt with never returns my calls as he promises. There is always somebody else's decision we are waiting on...My car was parked in front of my own house and hit. MY LIFE has been disrupted by no fault of my own and Horace Mann does not do their job. This is ridiculous! Shameful business tactics.
