I have a 2nd mortgage with National City. My payment is due on the 24th of the month and I have a 10 day grace period. I always pay by the end of the grace period. Today 9/2 I got a call at my office from colections telling me that im late and I gave them a payment over the phone. Then the collector started asking me why I'm late is ther a problem ect. I said I had no problem and why were they calling be berore the grace period and she said all loans go to the collections department on the 7th day of the grace period. Is there any way that I can stop them from calling my work if I pay before the grace period ends. Also I asked when I could make a payment at the PNC branches and she said it should be soon. at that point I said that would be great then she said to me I would have to make the payment 5 days before my grace period or it would not post to my account untill after my grace period and I would also have a late charge, I said to her that is not legal and she said to me thats how it works and if it were up to here there would be no grace period at all. What a great bank.

We have a business and personal checking account with National City and our experience has been horrible - they are totally rude and unethical in their banking practices. At this point, we're finished with them. Random amounts of money have sometimes disappeared from our account, reappearing hours or days later with no explanation as to where the money went. Sometimes this has caused us to "overdraft" but they will not take responsibility for their own system's glitches and charge the customer anyway.
Be warned that they also take out overdraft fees BEFORE "held purchases" are processed. There have been times when it was only their premature overdraft fee that caused an overdraft. Our statement shows a positive balance the whole time. But even when this happens and you can show them on paper that you never overdrafted, they will talk you in circles and not refund the fee. They also rearrange same day transactions from biggest to smallest so that they can collect as many fees as possible if you do overdraft.
The managers do not care if you complain. We even went up to the VP level at Corporate, especially in regards to the "disappearing money" and he basically said that was how their system worked and if we didn't like it, to bank elsewhere.
The Points are nice, but not worth it when they find ways to charge you $500 in overdraft fees for a single overdraft of less than $10. I would advise people looking for a bank to steer clear of National City. They may call themselves PNC now, but their terrible customer service and shady practices have not changed one bit.

I went to the branch to pay my mortgage and my escrow shortage. When I received my conformation that I paid I was given a hand written scratch paper that I paid my escrow. I asked for an actual receipt and I was given such a hard time. I was told that they were doing me a favor for taking my escrow payment. The manager Monica Grimm has no idea how to treat customers. She wanted to argue with me saying that I was being rude. I'm sorry...you just took my money and all I wanted was a receipt. She contunied to just keep talking while I was waiting in the drive through for twenty minutes. This bank at 10 South Dorset Road in Troy needs a new manager and some smart tellers. It is fearful that such a large company can't do the job. The teller did not even know if they had letter head to type up my receipt. I have put calls into the regional manager, but now I'm going to the top. I have been with this bank since 2000 with my mortgage and I am now looking for another bank to transfer my mortgage over to. This bank has to have some of the rudest people and I just cant believe how they treat the customers that help pay the hands that feed them.

horrible bank. NEVE R do business with them!!!! The most rude dispicable people on the planet. The collections dept has called 30+ times on a bill that isnt even 30 days late yet. I ask them to stop and they dont.
DISGUSTING PRACTICES, A HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME.
Ironically, they and the banking business are the reason I dont have a job (construction) and the reason the rental house on which they have a loan can no longer rent for enough money to service the debt. Yet they still want to make me pay them.
Id like to pay with a fist in the face of every harrassment caller that calls me.

I have a credit card through them and I have to say that reaching them sometimes is impossible. They certainly don't have operators any time of the day or night. Even their help area is limited. Disputing something on their credit card was a bit painful and I never felt that they really listened to me.

We received a car loan from National City. After stellar payment history, we missed one payment when I lost my job. National City started calling us five or six times every single day within that first day after I missed the payment. We continually explained the situation to EVERY SINGLE PERSON we talked to. Yet, two hours later, a new person would call, and we would again have to give them the answer, "No, we still don't have the money. We didn't have it two hours ago, we don't have it now." Finally, we were approached about settling the loan. They were willing to take half the amount of the loan to call it good. Little does many people know, this is a ploy to screw your credit rating so you have trouble getting financing in the future. We experienced terrible service, annoying harassment, and not a shred of kindness in our 3 months of being unemployed. We won't be going back to National City ever again. Service is as important as the product, and sometimes, even more important.
