I have been a customer for 11 years. I recently had over $1300 in fraudulent charges in my checking account that I reported immediately. The charges were made on the Internet with my debit card number (which I still have possesion of). I was told that I had to wait until the charges posted to my account and then file a claim. So I waited and filed a claim 3 days later after the charges posted. It has been nearly 3 weeks and I have still not seen a penny. I will get my money back and I will NEVER bank with Regions ever again.
I would not recommend them, AmSouth was good but not Regions. Regions sits on deposits for day before posting [5 or 6 for in state check] and electronic payments. They make many mistakes in posting! I'd give them a solid D with little hope on improvement. I will be moving to a credit union very soon. Mr. Ritter just want to sell the to a NYC bank that does not have a similar footprint - Citi or Chase! They should have fired him years ago as he is one of the worst CEO's in the US - low earnings and reord fines and big bonuses to him. The good old boy network at its best.
I live in a fairly small city with about 10 Regions Branches. They are getting ready to open up another Branch in our Target shopping center. This was annouced in local paper last week. This morning on news they informed public that Regions is requesting money from government stimulus program. I am wondering if they are going to pay for new branch office with these funds.
Long time customer of this bank line, after several changes, i am with Regions. My company account od several thousand dollars has been inactive for several years. Regions charged me $133.75 to transfer monies froma Mexican Band and no one will explain the charges, soon to be no longer be with Regions.
I opened my checking account in 1995.In the13 years, I have had a great relationship with the bank. Customer service has been outstanding,ATMs accurate, tellers pleasant and helpful. Recomment it to everyone.
I banked with regions for 10 years and to my dismay I was having funds just disappear out of my account. i would call over and over because my account kept coming up short. I am the QUEEN of balancing my check book so I was very disturb about why my funds kept coming up short. I had a battle with the sorry *** customer service and had to go on and see a manager to get everything straighten out. I still had to get my account changed and when asked if i wanted to stay at Regions I gave the the finger took the money out the account and withdrew the amount that was placed back in my account 10 DAYS LATER! that customer service was stealing.......i don't understand how people can say this bank is #1 it SUCKS!
I will not only not recommend Regions bank, I will go out of my way to discourage anyone that will listen from doing business with these thieves. Do yourself a huge favor and bank ANYWHERE else.
I was one of those who did not balance my books, but when I did, Regions still double and triple charged fees. I had to talk with Russ a corporate supervisor in the customer service department after the other representatives were unable to explain it to me. I made 4 transactions on the same day and kept each transaction in my ledger, subtracting the purchases from the one before. I realized the last charge overdrew the account by 2.76 and understood I would be charged a fee of 35, making the account a -37.76. They charged the fee, while the transaction was pending, so the balance was -37.76. Pending transactions are held by the vendor, not the bank, but the bank does subtract it from your available (duh). I figured I would only be charged the one fee since it was only one transaction that overdrew the account. However, once the transaction posted (on the now negative account--even though the transaction was pending and the amount was held out of the account and no other transactions were made other than the NSF fee on the pending amount), they charged me again, making the account overdrawn by 87.30 . Even though I added and subtracted and deserved only one fee, the bank's processing warranted another. Russ said nicely and plainly, "Yes, we technically charged you triple for the same transaction that caused your account to be overdrawn, even though the pending transaction amount was taken out of your available. Thankfully, no other transactions were made or you would be overdrawn by hundreds." At that point, I was amazed by his honesty, at the corporate level, that I didn't fight it any more. Instead, I pledged to stop living check to check, made a deposit to cover the overdraft AND opened a savings account with Regions that would help with any overdrafting transactions so I won't be charged fees. Their customer service is ****, but the bank is in the business of making money, not just storing it. I was one of those people whining about the fees, but now with I have a better understanding of how to make the bank work for me and not work off me.
Anyone who complains about bounced checks or a bunch of fees simply should not be allowed to have a checking account because you do not know how to add and subtract. If you deposit a $1,500 check, then verify that it is in your account before writing more checks. That is just common sense... not the banks fault. Try being "RESPONSIBLE" and you wont lose any money.
