I had the same experience as rhonda1311. They just won't let me once and for all close my account. I had to skip work just to show up in person at the bank to take care of all the mess TCF Bank created for me. What a bunch of ripoff artists!!!!!!!

Also, I had over-withdrawn my account by $1.04 one time, and that $1.04 cost me more than $250 in fees when they were done ripping me off. At the same time, I was never notified of anything, they just kept robbing away with the over-withdrawal fees, interest, etc. After being a customer of over 10 years and being the first time I over-withdrawing (by $1.04), this is what they do to me. I asked them to see if they could waive it, but of course, the answer was a flat out no.

I highly recommend this to people who want to give up their money to dishonest people.

TCF bank has the worst customer service and a bizarre policy of never actually closing accounts. A regional manager told me that despite the fact that I forced to go to a TCF branch to close my accounts 3 times, that if any transaction of any kind, initiated by anyone comes into that bank with one of my closed account numbers on it, that i will reactivate my accounts (without my knowledge or approval) and I will be responsible for any and all fees associated with it.

The branch manager told me that the chances of this actually happening to me was slim but when he said it to me it was the 3rd time I had been in that bank to re-close the closed accounts because of just a situation like that and not on just one account - but three.

They are and awful bank. A close friend and I have both experienced multiple occasions in which some of our funds would suddenly disappear. I have probably lost between 120 and 160 dollars to them in the last year. Then, when you complain to their customer service about it, they don't do anything and just mark it up to your bad book keeping, even if you have proof to back yourself up.

I would not recommend them, ever.

Bad, bad, bad...
Customer service is a pain to deal with. Online transfers from savings to checking will sometimes disappear, resulting in a bounced check (and the service fee to go along with it). I would *never* recommend this bank to a friend, acquaintance or even an enemy.
