I've been a customer of BankNorth for 6 years. They've always been helpful and courteous when I have any questions or complaints.
In recently going over my bank statements, I found that TD Banknorth has taken aprx. $1085 dollars in fees from my account in the 90 days....which seems crazy to me since my account only overdrafted once in those 90 days. DO NOT TRUST THEM....CHANGE BANKS!! Working trying to get at least a portion of the money back, but of course they take their time getting back to me. Closing my account today!!!
JD. My son and I opened a Joint money market and CD account on Dec. 24 '08. It took weeks and weeks and weeks to get the checks, and he got the first statement on Feb. 12. This is after nearly a dozen phone calls. I got nothing but obfuscation and misinformation. Can you believe they told me they couldn't deliever checks or statements to a mailbox that didn't have a name on it? Even the main consumer service questioned that excuse!
Banknorth has a policy in which they will only issue payment coupons in a maximum of 60 coupons per package. If, however, you have a loan term of 66 months, for example, they will then mail you the additional 6 coupons separately. Unfortunately, there is nothing at all to indicate that this is their procedure.
We were customers who paid on time for 5 years and thought that we had finished paying on this loan. Because we had moved we never received the additional coupons. We just thought we'd paid in full and were waiting for our title to arrive. As a result, we missed one month. We did not realize that there was anything amiss with our account until we checked our credit report which stated that we had a balance due on our account. We initiated contact and were received by rude customer service agents who never once indicated that they valued our business or appreciated our timely payments (we never missed a single payment). Instead, we were treated as scofflaws and debt evaders. They never once questioned the wisdom of their own coupon protocol -- which seems designed to create defaults. After this horrible experience, after 5 years of faithful payments, we just decided to pay the balance in full and sever our relationship with Banknorth forever. Buyer beware.
TD Banknorth is a joke. They charged me $210.00 in overdraft fees when my account never once went negative until the fees were applied. This is the third time that I have had to call customer service to have them reverse fees that should have never been applied. I will never use this bank again nor would I recommend anyone use them. I hope that they get porked like they pork all their customers.
