TD Bank Reviews
I too was a commerce customer for several years. And the bank always worked well with you, and it seemed their goal was customer satisfaction. But since the merger i have had nothing but over draft fee on top of overdraft fee. I unfortunately am on working two jobs living pay check to pay check. My account usually does dip below $100.00. With commerce i would be ok till i deposited my next checks. Td however they charge you a fee for you balance going under $100. then charge you an over draft fee...(which I recently found out) the charges never end. So you can imagine my shock when i went to deposit my check and my account was -$320 some odd dollars. And they told me i had to deposit my checks. Now i know when i was done spending i had exactly $27.19 in my account. How does this happen? I'm sorry i have bills to pay and a child to take care of. do you know how many checks i would have to deposit to catch up. And ofcourse you know they would just keep on tackin on the fees. They can eat that 20 some odd dollars and pay themselves back their own ridiculous charges. I am so over it. Mind you this is not the first time this happened. Last time they credited me MOST of my money, but not all saying i need to keep better track even though i went in there with my balance book, online print out and atm reciepts. They actually shorted me $70. But i gave them another chance figuring its new and there are kinks to work out. but now no more. Fool me once shame on you ,fool me twice shame on me.

TD Bank is HORRIBLE!!!!
They are a far cry from Commerce which was a good bank.
- They are completely focused on opening branches and not customer service.
- They have 1 manager for up to four branches. These managers are a) never around and b) not empowered to do anything and finally c) many of them are down-right rude and treat customers like cattle.
- Commerce's policy used to require adding tellers to ensure that people did not wait on line for more than a few minutes at the most. With TD the standard practice is to wait in line sometimes for up to twenty minutes.
- Branches are mismanaged with stressed out employees that are unfriendly and at time snarl at the customers. Deposit or withdrawl forms are often missing.
- TD Bank also keeps making "mistakes" that lead to $175 overdraft charges. First, they are bogus charges and second $175 in overdraft fees!!! Are they nuts?
- Their online services work haphazardly and my online bill pay has not updated any records since September.
It is clear that TD Bank is focused on quantity and not quality. What is shocking is that they managed to completely undermine the good faith many people had in Commerce and converted it into absolute disdain for TD in a matter of two months!!!

Hello!
Maybe you havent noticed that you are not banking WIT Commerce anymore...you havent been WIT Commerce for a long time. You arn't in Kansas anymore Dorthy
OK, I have been with Commerce Bank for 5 years. I say Commerce Bank cause thats who I signed my account agreement with.
This system merger and policy changes are in fact iffy.
So 2 weeks ago I overdrafted because they posted a transaction twice (go figure). I called and they said $35 for the fee, but they reversed it after like an hour.
I asked what the new policy was on overdraft since I have been out of the country for 2 months. They told me that all transaction can overdraft and I can opt out, I didn't....
So this sunday I had $77 in m account and I charged $143... thinking, OK so lets try this new policy and I will be in negative $66 with $35 fee so I will be negative $101 till thurs when I deposit some cash...
So since I made that last charge for $143 at the end of sunday and have not touched my account since then....
Oh yeah during sunday I made 5 transactions for less than 6$ each.
Everything posted Monday 11/2... they posted largest to smallest. So all 6 transactions overdrafted... since the 5 were small they posted the $143 first leaving me at approx negative $30. so when all the 5 trans hit.. it kept enlarging my negative...
end of story... $210 in overdraft fees.
Like I said, I have been out of the country for 2 months, so I have not been able to read any policy changes. But I do have internet access... tdbank.com does not have the new policy and the overdraft fee says $15 in their fee schedule.
and this is after having customer service point me to the PDF's.
they didn't want to credit me the fees... because they say I should have been more informed... from who? i am asking them for the policy changes online and nothing!

I was a Commerce Bank customer for a few years prior to the TD takeover.
Recently my TD Bank account was compromised thru loss of some checks, so a week ago I had to close my account and open a new one. SImple enough.
My local branch was helpful and efficient. My new debit card worked for a day.....until the "backoffice" processed the data.
The "backoffice" opened my new account, and then for some inexplicible reason, they CLOSED it. Now, my new debit card no longer works because the new account is CLOSED. Meanwhile, the compromised account for which I have no checks, is still OPEN.
I have NO ACCESS to my funds - it has been a week.
Oh, and just to be sure I'd have no access to my funds, they have locked up my money in some bizarre account in the bank that isn't even my own.
I spent the better part of 2 afternoons in my local branch trying to straighten out the mess---but the TD "backoffice" people won't even discuss the issue with the people in my branch. I was told that a particular backoffice person was to phone me with answers - but no one called. I spoke with my branch again, yet no response from the back office.
The fact that they have prevented me from accessing my funds, and yet it has been impossible to reach anyone to fix the issue or even find out what is going on is appalling.
I'm looking for a new local bank--
Be careful; the commerce people are great but the bank is completely dysfunctional.

I have just recently opened an account at TD Bank. This after reading several of the Pro and Con reviews. I have read a lot of statements. I have worked in upper level amnagement as well as blue collar work to get to the open understanding i have todate. What most of you are complaining about is valid. Many of you have even mentioned closign accounts and going to other banking institutions. Well, I have some valuable advice for everyone. "You must be out of your friggin minds"! Thats right, I wrote it. Nothing more to do than complain because you are too busy wanting to be heard. Well there has not been a complaint free, pain free, problem free, trouble free merger of any business in the history of mankind. Feel free to check it out for yourself. It is a painful reality but a reality none the less.
Now, considering every so often; one bank buys or merges with another. there will be transitional problems. the same thing happened, and i am sure the same people complained when Ma bell split, Chrysler sold to Fiat, Microsoft invested in Apple, Apple took the Intel chip, Sprint bought Nextel, AT&T bought Cingular, etc.
Get real people, the purpose of a bank is the same as yours, capitalize and grow by investing, reinvesting and acquistions to increase its size.
The secondary purpose of a bank is not to "manage your money". It is to manage it's investments. They do this buy borrowing your money, to invest in several markets. In return, you get paid a dividend of that investment (as interest).
Now, there is not a single one of you out there who would not ***** about how you've been put on the spot if you had promised to go into a department store and buy a piece of furniture for a great deal. But that deal had a time limit on it. you had to be back by the close of business tomorrow. Now, you have a friend who promised to repay you what you lent them.
That friend avoids you and skips out on your repayment. You lose the furniture deal. The sales rep loses his commision because the store manager agreed to hold it for "him/you". Everybody just lost, you lost face based on your friend. When you find your friend... you will want your friend to repay you for the headaches he's caused. There goes the penalty. But because it is happening to you, "it's not fair".
The second purpose of a bank is to securely store your money. That means that you are supposed to have an idea of hwo much money you have , budget appropriately and spend only what you are certain is available.
I work for a company that gets these types of complaints frequently, as well as the threats of going to other comapnies. Well, when you get to the next bank, serevice provider, what have you. You will find the same issues agter a period of time. liek the days as you are setting up the new service or account. As well in a few years or months when you begin to think they are supposed to monitor everything for you. Then the lies start. You know these lies. They tend to sound a lot like this " the otherr company never used to' , or "they would always ", etc. Then there is the statement that, quite honestly no one really cares about "im gonna close my account and go to...". Do you think that person standing in front of you at the register, window really gives a hoot.
You all need to put yourselves in the reality, you can't go threatening the little person who works just as hard as you do. They are trying to make a living and will not; should not be disrespected. by some irresponsible individual who just is too lazy to take care of there own finances and bills.
Thats right, Its always someone elses fault.
Isn't it! Isn't it?

I was a commerce bank customer for 10 years and I have absolutely had it with TD Bank. Convenient hours are of no help to me if I am worry what new policy has taken event to ruin my account of if their systems are working well enough to take money OUT of my account yet unable to process direct deposits (i.e my paycheck) or money transfers, etc. The wait time over the phone is always ridiculous and the bank is just awful. I will NEVER bank with TD Bank again

I have been a Commerce Bank customer for 6 years and never had a problem. They had every bank beat. Always friendly, helpful, convenient, etc. Even better was their online banking system and deposit policy. Payroll checks were deposited as cash as long as you weren't overdrawn. If I were to make a purchase at a local store then return home and look up my account on my computer it would show the purchase amount and remove it from my available balance (even if was technically still in my account). It made it so easy to stay on top of things. This bank has completely gone to hell since TD took over. Their policies have completely changed, and the online banking DOES NOT reflect what your available balance really is anymore making it even more difficult to keep up with your account, and they seem more concerned about finding ways to trick you in order to squeeze more money out of you than they are about customer service. I am certain that they will NOT receive the JD power award next year. In the meantime my husband and I are searching for a new bank...any suggestions?

I agree, Commerce Bank was awesome! I never had a problem with Commerce that wasn't my fault and even then they were very fair and understanding. TD Bank sucks. I can't believe they charge $15 for dropping below $100 balance. You normally only see fees like that for interest checking if you go below $2,500. Time for a new bank, thinking about Wachovia. I hear they are better since being bought by Wells Fargo.

As of tomorrow I am taking all my money out and going else where. Once the system changed, all the tellers became rude and just want to rush you out. I specifically asked a question to a teller when I last deposited money on Saturday and she gave me false information making me think my balance was one number and once my check cleared Tuesday I would have much more money. Tuesday came along and it was not there, she messed up and I have been spending money like I had it when it turns out I do not and am now ******. I do not care how great their hours are, I can not stay here any longer.
I miss Commerce Bank.
It is unfortunate that this had to happen. I have banked with TD for several years and recently started working there about a year and a half ago as a teller. As a customer of the bank I'd be upset too if I did not work their and have to deal with the issue on the front lines. It was the most frustrating week ever to have to work there. It was hard going to work each day in fear that our systems would still be down and some irate customer would come in an ruin your day with something you have no control over. The big-wigs of the company worked hard on the issue however they weren't the ones taking the brunt of it. It was myself and the other tellers/CSR who had no control over your ACH department. So please do not blame the people like me who, like all of you, didn't get our own ACH and direct deposits
