I unfortunately can't echo the comments about Wachovia.
I began using Wachovia at age 14 because my parents banked there (mortgage there, etc.). We found that as the bank grew, the emphasis on customer support dropped exponentially. After several episodes, my parents moved all of their accounts - including their mortgage - to another bank (this was huge for them since my father had his first account ever at Wachovia in NC). I eventually moved my accounts, too.
At my practice, I can emphatically say that most of the accounting/banking issues that come through my door are tied to Wachovia. They are a big bank which make no secret about the fact that they crave big business accounts, not "small potatoes" accounts.
The fees are unreasonable and onerous (for ATM withdrawals, in particular) and I have found time and time again that they do not return phone calls or other correspondence. I won't bore with war stories - and I have many - but I will say that there is a reason why many in NC (where Wachovia was "born") refer to it as Walk-all-over-ya.

I am a long time customer of Wachovia using their checking, savings, and home loan products at one time or another. The value of the home loan products has been decent with rates generally lower than industry average. The thing that Wachovia has always done well is customer service. I don't exactly know how they do it, but pretty much every time I have needed to communicate directly with someone I've talked with someone thoroughly trained and very friendly.
