E*Trade offers two types of checking accounts: Max-Rate and E*Trade Checking. Max-Rat accounts come with an ATM/Visa debit card, no ATM fees, high interest rates on cash balances greater than $5,000, and a monthly maintenance charge if certain requirements aren't met. E*Trade Checking doesn't bear interest, comes with unlimited debit card and check transactions, and has no monthly fee. Both accounts require a $100 minimum deposit.
