My mailbox is littered with scrip from card companies, American Express included, peddling annual fee credit cards. I understand that such cards offer certain perks and rewards, but I usually just say no. The annual fee on the TrueEarnings Card from Costco and American Express is one worth paying.

Get the TrueEarnings Card from Costco for... great rebates on dining out and travel.

As a Costco member, I was already paying the annual fee. The cost of this rich cash back card IS the Costco membership fee which, by the way, is worth the price of admission. For that, TrueEarnings cardholders get 3% cash back for gas and restaurants, 2% cash back for travel and 1% everywhere else, including Costco. Once a year, Costco sends you a certificate which can be used at Costco for merchandise or exchanged for cash.

Remember the usual caveats. Carrying a balance washes away any of the upside for a rewards card. Don’t overspend on hot dogs and big screen televisions!

The best rewards card I have used. I just received my first cash rebate on my Amex statement and I couldn't be happier. So easy to earn rewards everywhere, especially buying gas for the last year -- 3% cash back! And with the travel 2% back, a couple vacations pay back the annual fee tenfold. I couldn't recommend this card more. And a Costco membership is exciting all by itself.

This is the Costco American Express card and it is the only credit card that Costco take that I am aware of. Overall, it is a fine card and a reasonable interest rate for purchases. I have, however, reason to warn people that after I paid down my balance that I had to carry through a short term emegency, American Express thanked me, by reducing my credit line. Hey, guys, thanks for nothing. I paid them back and they whacked away. Now I understand, they are making an adjustment in a tighter credit environment, but my FICO score will take a hit and that i did not appreciate. That being said, the convenience to buy gas at costco at their cheap rate with the card, is another side benefit that I do enjoy.

Actually, you only get the $25 statement credit if you apply on the application that offers it. For example, if you sign up as a new Costco member AND a new TrueEarnings cardmember on the "dual" application in the Warehouse, you will get a $25 statement credit after you make your first purchase. I think there are some mail offers too but I don't think the online application offers it.

I got the card to use as my membership card and use it at costso, that part works great. In this economy I got a letter from the company REDUCING my line of credit, with out any warning or late pays, they cut my limit. I gave up another card to get this one, so I actually went down im my credit limits! Tacky, tacky.

I recently received my card and have replaced my old Amex with this one. I'm using it everywhere. 3% back on gas is great, especially if I can buy my gas at Costco and save even more doing it!

I just got a Costco membership last week & they tried selling me on this card. I turned it down since I already have an Amex Blue card & a Citicard Platinum Dividends card. I think I may have to reconsider & get this card because of the 3% cash back on gas, though... (Citi cut their gas cash back to 2%, and Amex Blue only gives me 1% on gas at my spending level).

I think I'll end up dumping my Blue card for this (although maybe it pays to keep it open & get account history?).

A simple, attractive rewards card.

Note that the Business flavor of this card gives a higher 5% cash back on gas purchases, so Costco business members may opt for it over the personal card referred to here.

Also worth noting that both TrueEarnings cards post rewards only annually.

Love this card and we use it all over the place. Here's the skinny:
- no annual fees
- low apr
- 2% back on purchases

Managing your card through the Amex website is easy too.
