I have been a customer of American Express for 30 years. They also cut my line by 80% without any warning. I always paid my bill in full, however, after being laid off in December, I decided to make minimum payments to maintain my cash flow, until I got my next job. During this period I was late paying my bill once--by three days. As a result, American Express jacked my rate up to just under 30%! What the heck? This is how American Express thanks loyal customers of 30 years? This card is in a drawer now--guess what AMEX, my Mastercard works pretty well too, except, of course, not at Costco, where AMEX has a monopoly. American Express is truly a fair-weathered friend.

Have had the card for 10 years. Applied for a $5,000 limit and they have increased that limit to $12,500. Underpaid the card once and was charged a $37 interest charge. Contacted customer service and they refunded the charge on the next statement. Only drawback is the $500 max for the refund from Costco.

Cut my limit today.... conveniently, I just paid them $6,000 and they cut my credit limit to match. So now instead of a 30% outstanding balance which looks good on my credit score...now I have a MAXED OUT CARD!!!!! I have a 720 credit score and have ONLY revolved this account for 6 months...I always paid in full each month, but had college tuition to pay and business expenses that made me borrow some money a couple of months! These guys were complete dicks to me when I called today to find out why my card was declined. They basically said I was a loser with bad credit.....I pulled my credit when I got home and they guy was so full of ****.... Is 720 a BAD score now???????

Oh...we make over 6 figures too!

Use your debit card, forget about credit cards...those days are OVER!!!!!! Be your own bank...that's what I'm doing!

Cheers

I have had The True Earnings card since Costco and American Express offered it, This year I got back $335.00, enough for a small t.v. for my kitchen and hey...2% from Costco and 1% from Amex and True Earnings card using their money!! How could you beat that? I use that card EVERWHERE I go! Love it!!

With Costco American Express: (****/****/****/1010) I had 3000 credit line and I had used up 2,500. On January 20th 2009, the card company decided to lower my credit line to 2200 without notifying me, so that left me with a negative balance of -300 which would reflect on my record as delinquent. I have never been late on my payments and I always paid a lot more than the minimum monthly amount due. I called them and tried arranging something with them and they refused to help me out and forced me to pay.

Unlike, the pleasant experience we've had for many years with the American Express Gold Business Card, they're truly professional, kind and protect their customers. But the Costco America Express do not have any of these positve qualities.

We've spoken to other people, co-workers and neighbors and they've had the same misfortune with Costco America Express.

Actually, I would say "0." I was trying to use this card for most of my spending and paying it off each month. The recently reduced my limit by about 75%. This was done with a very short advance notice. I have not missed payments with AMEX or any other creditor. I have excellent credit. My balance is now "0" and it will stay that way.
I do not trust AMEX and will not use their card ever again. This was the card I was using for travel, I don't like the thought of being stranded away from home and AMEX pulling this underhanded stunt again. I am glad that the government plans to revamp the laws to curb the abuse of consumers by credit card companies like AMEX. I will do everything I can and influence my friends to support new legislation so that this doesn't happen again.

Rating is 0 and AMEX STINKS.

The "TrueEarnings Card From Costco from American Express" is really of big help for me and to my family. The type of offer that this card have is very flexible and very much helpful to me because first, it has no annual fee that I consider as a burden during my previous experience over the other entity. Second is that the type of card is "cash back" which is certainly the type of card I've been looking for. Through this, I could be able to support the financial needs of my family without without the fear of a future payments.

The best rewards card I have used. I just received my first cash rebate on my Amex statement and I couldn't be happier. So easy to earn rewards everywhere, especially buying gas for the last year -- 3% cash back! And with the travel 2% back, a couple vacations pay back the annual fee tenfold. I couldn't recommend this card more. And a Costco membership is exciting all by itself.

This is the Costco American Express card and it is the only credit card that Costco take that I am aware of. Overall, it is a fine card and a reasonable interest rate for purchases. I have, however, reason to warn people that after I paid down my balance that I had to carry through a short term emegency, American Express thanked me, by reducing my credit line. Hey, guys, thanks for nothing. I paid them back and they whacked away. Now I understand, they are making an adjustment in a tighter credit environment, but my FICO score will take a hit and that i did not appreciate. That being said, the convenience to buy gas at costco at their cheap rate with the card, is another side benefit that I do enjoy.
