I have worked with Ameriprise for 10 years for homeowners insurance (from when they were associated with American Express). The customer service is not local but still outstanding. Their call center is in Wisconsin - and the folks are just really warm and friendly.
The rates are decent and anytime that I've needed a policy update or change it has happened really quickly. I can't give them a 5 - only because I have not worked with them on a claim yet.
