Ameriprise Financial does not manage its own mutual funds. Instead it partnered with over 200 mutual fund firms in order to offer more than 2,000 funds to customers. Ameriprise Financial also runs a mutual fund program, "the Program" that features 26 of these mutual fund firms. These firms pay Ameriprise when Ameriprise sends them customers. So make sure your Ameriprise advisor is recommending the best fund and not just the one that will make him the most money.

Uhh, no. Ameriprise does manage a number of it's own funds under the Riversource brand. They also offer financial planning and that planning should include offerings outside of the Ameriprise/Riversource fund offerings.
