I wish I had never refinanced my loan with AmTrust. Yes it was quite easy to do and they were very helpful. But, then when my husband lost his job after 10 years and we lost more than 50% of his income due to a layoff we went to try and modify our loan to no avail. It has been 10 months and nothing but a temporary forebearance offered to us. We were advise not to do the temporary forebearance and I am so glad we didn't since I read the other posts here. I was actually beginning to wonder if I had done the wrong thing. The most unfortunate part is, I see that had I been with my previous two mortgage companies Citi or Countrywide they are doing some modifications but not good old AmTrust. No, they said they were offering us a temporary forbaerance for a temporary hardship (6 months to be exact) . HOW is my husbands job loss temporary as far as I know noone is getting their jobs back anywhere!!!!!! It's so nice that Obama is making sure that these companies use the stimulus money to help people like us. Yeah Right! The rich get richer!

We earn 40% of what we used to and our home has dropped $145,00 in value in the last year. We were denied for a modification with Amtrust. Amtrust offered us a forebearance, obviously because they were aware through all of our supporting docs that we were in trouble. Unfortunately, the damage it does to your credit makes in impossible to refinance for several years after accepting a forebareance and my husband owns his own business and having a dropping credit score raises his interest rates and borrowing capacity with suppliers which would ulimately cost him in the long run. Its wrong that the government 'supposedly' says no matter what your home is worth and what you earn if you took out your freddie mac loan before Jan 1 2009 you are eligible for a refinance or modification and then Amtrust gives these delayed payments as thier fix. You will be a lofeling customer with them because no other bank will mortgage your home for you. They are not doing any favors to you at all! Youre stuck with them til they foreclose for sure!!

My Wife and I have been in a battle with AmTrust over the last 8 months in putting together some type of loan modification on our first home here in Las Vegas. Mind you we purchased our home Jan 2008 for $280,000. It is now worth $170,000 or lower.

My wife is working 3 days a week on a commission basis, and I work in the restaurant industry. WE are both making HALF of what we normally would due to the local economy hurting- in part this is the backlash of a severe lack in Convention business. (MANY executives beleive this is due to Obama's speech given not that long ago when he warned Companies that taking Las Vegas trips would be deeply scrutinized, thus no business can afford the bad PR right now.

All that AmTrust has been offering is a forbearance. This is ludicrous! not only will forbearance go against our credit, but it will only be a temporary fix to a LONG term issue. I am talking about a 50% reduction in our income. HOW is forbearance the ONLY option?

Mind you - we continue to make the payments when we get the money together to keep our credit ratings OK (usually 28 days after our payment is due). But for what? We see no light at the end of the tunnel.

This is a bad first home-buying experience - what a wonderful way to begin a marriage - both personally and financially.

I wish I would have never dealt with Amtrust. They have my present mortgage and offered a good deal on a refinance. I had credit scores that were almost 800 across the board and have never missed a payment on anything. I decided to do the refinance and they told me to not make my next mortgage payment due to the impending refinance. They had an appraisal done that disqualified the refinance....too many of the condos in my complex were owned by a single entity (which is something I was unaware of and have no control over). They told me this weeks after my mortgage payment was due. I went ahead and started making payments again including my payment to 'catch up' that they told me not to make. Because it was 'late' they reported it to all 3 credit bureas which significantly decreased my credit scores. They are all three at about 700 now as a result. When discussing this over the phone they were somewhat condescending about the whole ordeal and felt is was my fault even though I would have never skipped a payment otherwise! Since then have ignored my requests to remove the derogatory information. Now any refinance or new home purchase is going to cost me many more thousands of dollars. Thank you amtrust for unfairly ruining my credit.

AmTrust has been helpful and courteous all the years the have held my current mortgage. Full service online is convenient and simple to use. They actually seem to care about their customers and the community. Very rare these days. Check out their website for yourself!

I'd recommend getting a home purchase loan through Amtrust bank to anyone. My wife and I were quickly approved and we got a great rate which really helps as I am on disability at the moment.
