Made first online payment on the 11th and they charge you an additional 12.50. Customer service would not wave fee for first time. Manager extremely rude and unhelpful. Will be leaving this half rate bank.
Just did a refi with them that was arranged through a mortgage broker. In the closing, in addition to signing the usual papers, we had to electronically sign a bunch of documents through their website. It was an incredibly slow and cumbersome process. It took half an hour for the title company's notary to be able to log into the site. Then each page refresh took several minutes, turning what should hvave been a one-hour closing into a three-hour closing.
Other than that, I've had no interaction with them either positive or negative. They funded the loan when they said they would, all the documents were in order, so I guess they did their job.
We tried to refinance / do a loan mod with AmTrust and was subsequently called by Sylvia from the Mortgage Litigation Dept. . - I have never dealt with anyone who was as rude as this individual! She had the nerve to tell us that as a Military family, we had no business owning a home and suggested that we put our house on the market for a short sale if we were so worried about our 5/1 ARM. We are not foreclosing yet..but wanted to be proactive and refinance before our ARM adjusts in a year or so. Her exact words were "I guess you're in a no win situation aren't you?" APPALLING! And who is she to determine whether or not a military family should own a home or not?? My husband is a LtCol in the Marine Corps and we are more than responsible, just trying to be proactive for what the future may hold. I am completely disgusted with AmTrust and their customer service ..particularly Sylvia in Mortgage Litigation...she must really hate her job to be so rude and unwilling to answer questions or direct us to who might be of help.
I was going to refinance and AmTrust has my original loan and was going to retain my business with a new refi. I coincidentally tore up my old tile to replace it with more expensive nicer tile. I have the tile on pallets and purchased with receipts.. They denied the refi the reason given they don't have leverage to ensure I put the tile in. But they already have the loan at higher rate and do not have any leverage to ensure I put the tile in. So they use air head logic. Do NOT do business with Amtrust. They are dishonest and use mathematically illegitimate reasons to deny. I will be done with my tile within 3 weeks and they never have my business or referral business again.

I just had a very similar experience regarding supplemental taxes. AND my husband is a Lt Col in the USAF in Bahgram right now. Yes, they must hate their jobs. Miserable, rude generation Xers who do not even own a home and understand what is really happening to people's lives. These mortgage Co."s have ruined lives, such as Am Trust. They have ruined, Wall Street, the economy, our security; and it all starts back to these little smart mouths on the phones, who are then backed by ignorant Supervisors who haveno clue what true humanity is. As my husband puts it "stop meddling with the common clay" unfortunately so true. They are common clay, and they have encroached themselves into our lives through deceptive practices, policies and deceitfullness. Never will I deal with them again other then to pay the mortgage, and cover my backside on every issue I have to deal with concerning them. ILK of Society>
