PART ONE:
I tried to set it up so overdrafts were declined/blocked when I first opened an account with them, and a person told me it was all set it up to decline any attempted overdraft. (I am now absolutely convinced that whatever he had me sign he later took to the bathroom and wiped his ass with, because this document I had signed dissapeared into the annuals of history and had no relevance of any sort to anything). I was 100% clear to him when I said I wanted overdrafts declined, and he made it 100% clear (he lied through his teeth) that he had put it into the system to make this happen.
6 months later when I accidentally overdrafted, I asked why this had happened since I had set it up so any overdraft would be declined. They told me no such service was put into place and no service or addition of any sort was added regarding overdrafts. After telling him about 700 times that there must be a mistake, I finally came to the conclusion that the handshake and verbal contract I had made 6 months ago was worthless and that the guy who I talked to 6 months ago had handed me a piece of toilet paper to sign.
From my look of extreme anger and bewilderment, the person offered me the ability to decline/block overdrafts. Apparantly you have to be homicidally angry for them to finally get the picture THAT YOU WANT THE DAMN OVERDRAFTS DECLINED.
And so begins the greatest bank racket ever concieved, the over draft fee. (for which I knew about and tried to prevent from happening, but they went ahead and did it anyway, "as a service" of course)
Also known as the 38 dollar burger, or the 1500% interest payday loan. After all the alterations made to my bank history (see part 2 of this story) I ended up with 7 of these 1500% interest loans.
PART TWO:
The.sequence of operations in my checking account was altered frequently for one week (not by an automated system, but handcrafted by someone who was apparantly very good at altering history to maximize fees).
For a whole week I looked at my online checking statement, and the order in which the transactions had gone through had changed at least 10 times.
I know it is standard bank practice to put the largest fees into the system first (in order to maximize overdraft fees), but is it standard bank practice for an actual real life person to repeatedly alter the sequence of bank transactions at his own transgression.
The actual amount I had borrowed from them was $11 (rounding up) from the bank. After all the smoke had cleared, they had pillaged my pay check, which conveniently was put through their system just barely after all the overdrafts had taken place (just absolutely spectacular the way they revised my transaction history so many times and finally managed to alter it for the maximum possible screwage). They pillaged over $250 from me for $11 freaking dollars....unbelievable.
I'm sure it goes without saying, I don't bank with Associated any more and I warn every friend/acquaintence to avoid Associated Bank like the plague.
CONCLUSION:
An Associated Bank employee's word is as good as garbage and the revisionist history techniques they employ would make Joseph Stalin blush.
Associated Bank is a 1st degree murderer in a sea of criminals of varying degree. I literally would rather hand my money over to a gangster than Associated Bank.
I knew about the overdraft fees and asked to have em declined, and they went ahead and did it to me anyway (more specifically, that scumbag liar I talked to six months ago, for which i'm sure Hell has their doors wide open for). And for the rest of the people who were involved in this debacle, especially "Stalin the Webmaster", may God have mercy on their souls.
