You must be a student under the age of 24 to open an Associated Bank's Student Checking account, which has no minimum balance requirement or monthly maintenance fees. You'll also get a Platinum MasterCard Check Card, overdraft protection and online banking services for free. You can use any Associated Bank ATM for free. If you live in Minnesota, you get 6 free transactions per statement cycle for non-Associated ATM (you get 2, if you life in Illinois or Wisconsin).

This is a great all inclusive checking offer strictly for students. They don't require your child to actually be a student to open it, so it also just works as a great first account for teaching your child about money and savings or banking in general. There aren't any fees to keep on top of, and you get all the basics, online banking, atm and check cards, etc.
