The mini check card is just a cute, miniature version of your Platinum Visa Check Card. It's perfectly sized for your key chain at only 1 ½" x 2 ½". Don't throw out the larger card just yet, the mini version doesn't work at ATMs and many gas pumps. So you'll want to carry both.
When I was in college I had received a Mini Card, it was easily usable and at the same time accessible. It can either be used when you leave your wallet at home or in case you misplaced your original debit card. It makes purchasing at certain stores that much simpler as well. I agree this is a unique way to keep customers interested in banking.
I have this card, and this is a great way to keep a checks and balances sort of thing going on with your actual visa card, just in case you loose it. It is small and convenient, and fits in the smallest fold of my wallet.
