Visa Platinum Credit Card from Bank of America
Need a basic card to help you build your credit? Add Bank of America's Platinum Plus Visa to your list. It has a 0% APR for the first 12 billing cycles if you don't exceed the balance maximum and you make your payments on time. Then the APR switches to a variable rate that depends on your credit-worthiness. Credit lines can be as high as $25,000 and you can put your photo on the card as a security measure.
Visa Platinum Credit Card Reviews
BEWARE: your APR may start low but it will vary monthly and I have seen months as high as 31% , currently its at 29.99% even when the LIBOR and interest rates are at an all time low. This is exactly the sort of card that hides the reality in small print. DO NOT USE BOA

I initially got this credit card when it was MBNA, and then BOA bought them out. I have not been satisfied with service since they were bought out. BOA is stingy with raising your credit line even if you have a solid credit history with them. Customer service in general just leaves something to be desired. However, the key to getting quick service when calling by phone is to call collect. When I was out of the country and had to call the service line, there was a collect number for calls and I got connected with a real live person in less than 2 minutes.

I will be closing this account soon. I have had this account for nearly 4 years, and in that time have spent more than my $2000.00 limit on charges alone; this is not including regular interest rates. For instance, I would make a payment to this card from my Bank of America checking account on a Tuesday. On Thursday, I would make a retail purchase, yet the purchase would inevitably post before the payment, and I'd be charged an insufficient funds fee. Occasionally I could get these reversed, but my interest rate would increase regardless.

I am very pleased with Visa Platinum Credit Card from BOA. What impresses me most is how they have responded quickly and respectfully to any problems I have had. Even when I lost my card three times in a row last year, they were nothing less than polite, patient and accommodating. Very, very happy customer here.

I had this card for 2 years. It is not as good as my Capital one card. After 2 years, my credit is still only $200. Plus paying bills online is not as great as my other card.

This is a great card if you are interested in building great credit. The APR is low and I was given a good amount of credit when I signed up for the card.
