Bill Me later is an absolutely despicable scheme! They in no way make it clear that the consumer will receive a hard hit on their credit. Beyond that they did not provide me with the $20 coupon I was told I would get for "signing up" when I made my online purchase with Frontgate. Just one more scheme to rip off the consumer and their bonus gift - they mess with your credit report.

The main problem I have with Bill Me Later is that the consumer has no idea what dollar amount they can be approved to purchase BEFORE they actually try the transaction. So it would require "fishing" to find out where your credit limit is at. Well, this "fishing" may mean MULTIPLE attempts to try and process the transaction, until you finally reach a dollar value/item that you are approved to purchase. IF there is a credit "hard" hit each time you "fish", this could be very damaging to the consumer. They may make multiple hits to find that they are only approved for what amounts to is a LOW END credit offer ($300.00) at a pretty high interest rate.
I'm wary of this service and it appears to be a business front for this large credit issuer and a marketing/advertising ploy or scheme.
Who knows, but it smells like a rat to me.
