I recently switched from Bank of America to Chase as my primary bank. The reason was because Bank of America didn't recognize my account that I opened in Washington and therefore I could only get limited service in the branches here in NYC.

Although I opted for Better Banking Checking, I still received complimentary checks. The customer service was outstanding and to top it off I took advantage of a $100 offer to become a new customer. With a gazillion ATMs in the city, I never have to venture too far to find one. Very convenient.

The only slight drawback is the online interface is not as clean and slick as Bank of America. But that is a small small price to pay.

This bank went into our account without our knowledge or permission n took all our money then charged an insefficent funds fee. They have refused to give any of it back so I am now going to the media to tell my story. This bank is terrable my husband of a few months and I now have nothing.

I started with Manufacturer's Hanover and rode the M&A wave via Chemical Bank to Chase. For a long time I had free checking simply because I started out at MH with it. Eventually Chase figured out that I didn't maintain a high enough monthly balance and I began paying fees. When that happened my satisfaction with the account dropped considerably. Later my car loan was also through Chase and the fees went away again, but once I pay that down low enough that they charge me fees, I'm closing this account for good.

I liked the online banking pretty well until I opened an account several months ago with Wachovia; Wachovia's online banking application is much better and more intuitive.
