I have had a Chase BP card for the last years. My spouse and I both commute 60 miles round trip for work so the 5% gas rebate is a great bonus over paying cash. I have never ever had a problem with Chase BP credit card. We always pay early and in full.
I WILL NEVER USE BP OR CHASE AGAIN. My card was also cancelled. I was never later and paid my bill in full every month. They said I was using my card to much. They just did not want to pay the money out. They should have put a cap on this card instead of canceling it.
In light of the recent national and international credit crisis it is no wonder that credit card companies are having to crack down on misuse of CONSUMER credit cards. Chase, the bank which gives the rebates back to consumers for purchases on the bp Visa is not the only bank that has taken steps of action. Some credit card companies are actually cutting the credit limits of credit cards. When Chase agreed to give consumers the industry-high rewards that they do, I’m sure they didn’t imagine $3-$4 gasoline and are now taking measures to get back on track. Yes, we have heard of several instances where people are using the bp Visa for what appears to be business purposes and have had their privileges revoked. However, these are rare instances and the card should not be condemned for it. Those customers should be encouraged to get a bp Business Card. We can also suggest, if the customer tells of such an instance, that another card is applied for in another name. i.e. Card was in Thomas, apply for a new card in Tom or Spouses name. Its like all those that cheat on their taxes, those that do it right end up paying more
I had $1330 in rewards due. Chase sent a letter closing my account due to excessive purchases. The application didn't state anything about business purchases but that is the reason they gave me for cancelling. They refused to pay the rebates. There went my Christmas money.
i too had my card canceled. when i called they stated that i was using it for business. which i did buy fuel but was not aware that i was not allowed to use it.l have had the card for 3 years and never was told anything about business fraud. i was saving my rebates and turned them in and all of a sudden there was a problem with my card being fraudently used i believe it is chases way of not paying out rebates. had i known i would not have used the card. i think if anyone is guilty of fraud it is chase.
Had my card canceled for using it for non consumer purposes. everyone in my town had there card canceled. I paid my card off every month and never carried a balance and that's the problem. Now rewards are not available , just screwed out of that.I feel chase bp should give a person there rebates they have earned or a law suit should be filed against them. When I applied for the card it said all bp purchases would get 5% back. nothing about not using it for non-consumer purposes. If chase bp is losing money on this rebate program why don't they limit the amount of rebates that can be earned instead of closing the account? Should feel lucky that I was not needing to use the card out on the road and have it come up canceled. What a feeling that would have been. Glad chase bp got gov. bailout money because they won't get another dime from me. Oh ya forgot I can still make minimum payment on my account that is closed. What a load of bs on there part, If they are going broke just say it, but closing accounts of people that paid their balance in full each month is just wrong. Taking my(non-consumer) fuel purchases elsewhere.@-off JP MORGAN CHASE BP
My spouse and I also had our account cancelled for "excessive gas purchases". We own two cars. Never missed a payment, never late. Paid off in full every month. We're concerned that this will hurt our credit scores because we now have to open a new credit card with another bank. I hope the next bank doesn't do the same thing to us. Disgusting.
We just had our BP Chase Visa card canceled without warning for using too much fuel. We spoke with the J P Morgan Chase Visa service center twice. We were told we were a Business. We were told we could get a BP BUSINESS card, however, neither I nor the Service Center could find such a card in their line of products. We were told we had been sent a written notice which we have not received. We were told we could get a BP Fuel card which carries a higher interest rate and a transaction fee for each purchase. I intend to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, their web address for those who also feel the actions taken are out of line can file a complaint on-line at the following address: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
I just had the same experience. Card cancelled by letter for purchasing to much gas. Said it was determined that I was using it for business. Absolutely false, I own 2 cars, 1 truck, 1 motorcycyle and 2 boats. I used the card for other purchases as well. I paid the entire balance each billing period and always on time. I cancelled my other 2 accounts with Chase and wrote to Gordon A Smith, CEO Card Services and requested the balance of my earned rewards. I don't think I would own stock in this company, not sure they will be around if they treat customers like this.
They cancelled my BP visa. I think chase is becoming unstable and is using my rewards for margaritas.
