The truth about Chase gift cards is that they ALSO charge $2.50 a month -- whether you use the card or not!! I held onto my card in case of an emergency. Imagine how pissed off I was when $30 in "fees" were taken out BEFORE I had ever used it!! My employer used to give us Chase Gift cards for a holiday bonus -- bah humbug! We'll be getting another type this year.

The option of loading it with any amount you want between 25 and 500 dollars makes this card a better alternative to cards in supermarkets and department stores that are limited to 25, 50, 75, and 100 dollars. And because Chase cards can be registered on Chase's gift card website, they can be used to safely make purchases online. At only $3.50 these cards are also cheaper than Amex, MC, and other Visa gift cards that are available at supermarket or department stores.

The fee at purchase is $3.50 -- afterward fees are $2.50 a month. They need to make that clear up front.
