This review is from TJX Rewards Credit Card from Chase

When in Tulsa (Tulsa Hills location) a few months ago I was solicited by the cashier to sign up for the rewards card. I thoroughly explained to the cashier that I did not want a creditcard. I was assured repeatedly by the cashier and her manager that it was simply a rewards point system.

I never received my rewards card (and certainly didn't receive a credit card from TJM as I would have destroyed the card and contacted the company to cancel any that would have shown up.)

I had given my debit card to the cashier to pay for my transaction.

Today, I receive a voicemail stating my TJX Credit card is past due. . . Since there is no credit card in my possession, I had to use the phone service to try and find information regarding the card, and to pay any balance I owed, and to make sure the account was closed, as it was not requested by me, and infact, emphatically stated to their employees I would accept an awards accrual card, but not a credit card.

I am thoroughly disappointed in the staff at the Tulsa Hills location for misleading me.

All others please be alerted to the fact this is not a rewards point system only, and that you can state that you do not want another credit card until the cows come home, but you may get one anyway.

Mary,

I would encourage you to check you credit and if it was reported as due, to dispute it. There appears to be two problems.

Knowing a few people who work in retail, alot of these companies give incentives and push their employees to sign up a certain number of people for their credit card. If they signed you up for the credit card, then it is their mistake and it should not impact your credit. Furthermore, if it shows as a credit line vs store credit on your credit report, you can have it taken off since you did not apply for the "Credit Card".

The missing card is another issue. You should call and report it as stolen. If it was entered by the employee then it could have been a mistake in the address (1234 or 1243, etc).
