A personal or home equity line of credit provides overdraft protection on the account.

I use my Direct Deposit Checking account regularly. It's free if you get a direct deposit and allows you to pay utilities and have a debit card for free.
I compared it with the offers of other banks and I picked Chase.
The customer service (over the phone) is always available and they helped me to solve a wrong payment i received on my credit card.
Is a good service and is free.

The whole point of this account is to get you to make regular deposits and build up your balance with direct deposit. The incentive is that they waive the fee. Obviously if you don't have direct deposit then there is no reason to get this account. Otherwise it's a nice free checking account with all the frills.
