Everything Counts Checking from Citibank
This checking account pays some interest (but not much) and provides unlimited check writing and use of non-Citi ATMs. To avoid fees, you need to follow some rules: maintain a balance of $10,000 across Citi deposit accounts (like checking, savings and CDs), or have at least $20k across any type of Citi account.

We switched from Chase, thinking Citibank was much better. A few years have passed and I've always thought that way until today.
We have a Checking Plus account to protect us, a "Everything Counts" customer, from overdrafts. In the past, it was free for all checking overdrafts to be covered automatically by the Plus account. This alleviated my worries of having to constantly monitor my account.
NOW, they are charging a $10 fee for any overdraft transaction into the Plus account. This came as a surprise, as I don't recall seeing any notifications of this change. The purpose of opening the Plus account was so that I didn't have to worry about all the overdraft fees. This now defeats the purpose of having the Plus account.
Citibank to me is just like any other bank now... about finding more ways of making more money out of their customers. Apparently being greedy with the back-then profitable mortgage business is for the customers to pay for.

I have my account here for 1.5 years now & really feel comfortable with them. I have the direct deposit, so my checking account is free too. They give away good interest rates too, so Iam completely satisfied with their service
