Stay away from Citi Identity Monitor. For over a year, my account has been locked out every time I try to access it, credit scores and analysis do not load (error message says try again later), and the report (Experian only) is over a year old at this point. Customer care has walked me though the "initial" setup six times. Today, I was told that after I click the download credit score button, I have to be a little patient (the customer care supervisor's exact words) and WAIT SEVERAL HOURS FOR IDENTITYMONITOR TO SEND ME AN EMAIL THAT IT'S READY. I apologize for the caps, I've been on the phone with them for two hours this morning. I finally got the account cancelled, and called back to verify that the account was in a cancelled status. I did not receive any value from the service after the first month, and I invested way too much time on the phone with their customer care department. Don't get involved with this company.

In order to activate my sears card by phone i had to be bombarded by sales pitches from a rep for identitymonitor who said i could easily cancel. After receiving my sears statement and calling to cancel, they said i had run out of time and would neither credit me the 12.95 nor let me contact upper management except by a p.o. box. I agree with the comment about "preditory enrollment practices" and I would advise anyone to not get involved w/ this sub par group. There are certainly more customer-oriented and less shadey companies with whom to do business.

May be a fine service, but they use preditory enrollment practices. Every couple months they call my 80 yr old father and tell him how dangerous his credit is. I then call past menues and pleadings to get it canceled one more time.

Took me a while to realize it but IdentityMonitor's credit report information had not been updated in over a year so I was only ever seeing old report information. I wish I could rate the service higher because I really wanted to like it.

I have been very satisfied with IdentityMonitor service, to such an extent that I was surprised to see it have a relatively low score on this site. I came to this site to find what others believe to be the best credit monitoring services, and after reading about the other top services I am convinced IdentityMonitor is generally the best for the money, with caveats (see below).

I think the chief virtue of the service is its low cost and high value (based on services provided). It offers alerts and 3-in-1 reports and scores updated monthly for $12.95 (and possibly even lower for Citibank customers). I think you'd be hard pressed to find that value anywhere else. Customer service was also responsive to my concerns, although I didn't need to use it that often. If you're looking for the best service to get monthly 3-in-1 reports and scores and daily alerts, I don't think you can find any better service than this one.

Now if you're looking for a credit freeze service, look elsewhere. IdentityMonitor is a credit report/score monitoring and auditing service. If, for example, you find that you've been a victim of ID theft you will probably need to use another service to freeze your reports. Also, IdentityMonitor doesn't provide nearly as much ID theft insurance for the money. But if you want to keep tabs on your credit and watch how your activities affect your score in near real time, this is the probably the best service for you.

I discontinued IdentityMonitor months ago because I was going through financial difficulties and couldn't justify the monthly charge, but now that my finances are more stable I'm going to restart the service soon.

I have been using this product for about two years now, and in that time I have found it to be very useful. The customer service is terrible, but you rarely need them unless you are wanting to cancel. They will offer a gift card and not honor it, which to me is bad business for such a large company. However, for price and ease of use, I give this product a 3.

The customer servise is the worst. I called to cancel my membership, but they continued to charge me. When I asked why, they said the phone conversation for cancelling my membership was never in their system and refused to return my credit. They offered me gift card incentive on the phone, but it was never sent to me.

It's comical just how much marketing spin these companies give to the ID theft insurance. These polices have pre-existing condition exclusions and family/friend exclusions. 40% of all reported ID theft is committed by a family member or friend. These polices are also dirt cheap for the merchant....less than 2 cents (yep) per covered soul per month. Save your money!!

I have been using IdentityMonitor for a little over 6 months now and have found it to be very reliable. I get timely notice of inquires into my credit as well as monthly notification when there have been no inquiries. I can request a credit report on a monthly basis that covers all 3 credit agencies. IdentityMonitor also provides help in disputing/resolving issues when they arise. The $12.95 monthly fee is not really out of line with other credit monitoring services (nothing is free), and I have found this service to be very reliable.
