Ultimate Money Account from Citibank

This is good for people that want to link a savings account to their basic checking. You'll earn interest (pay at least two bills online each month, and you'll get a higher rate) and there are no minimum balance requirements. You need a checking account to sign up, which can only be done online or by phone. Pair it with an EZ Checking account and they'll waive maintenance and per-check fees.

I have this as a way to get a "high interest" savings account. In order to get the higher rate you have to make 2 bill payments per month which I setup to have reoccuringly sent to my local bank checking account (yes, have them mailed directly to their deposit office), but it's a bit trivial, but a good savings account if you want to use Citibank EZ checking...

I have the Ultimate Money Account linked to my checking -- it's an easy way to shuttle money back and forth between my no-interest checking and an interest-bearing account. It's pretty seamless. That said, I wish they would alert me every time the interest rate changed (I think it's somewhere north of 2% -- it started out much higher). It's hard to find good yield anywhere these days, but I'm still going to try.
