I sent in my car payment on time, and Fifth Third bank took it for 200 dollars more than what the check said. The funny thing is if you are indoubt about what a check is written for you need look at the actual written amount and take the check for that amount. The check's written amount was very clear and I can't understand how they screwed that up.
So I called 3 times and spoke with someone. Everytime they were bery rude and unhelpful. Being I have been in banking for almost 10 years, it's a rule of thumb to do what you can to make your customers happy especially if its the banks error. In this case it is their error, they told me it will take up to 10 business days to refund me the money. To me that is ridiculous. I asked if they were going to refund my overdraft fees and the only answer they would give me is that they would work out the refund with my bank. I can't believe how rude they were, they treated me like I was an idiot and didn't understand what they were talking about. I understood 100% I just couldn't understand that they could be so inconsiderate to one of their own customers.
I would definately not recommend this bank for anything. They are obviously to large of a bank to take the time to really care about their customers. What they need to realize is that their customers are what is keeping them open and in a job.
The interest rate was the lowest, and that's why I chose to go with Fifth Third Bank for my auto loan. I make my payment on the same day each month, and have been doing so for over a year now. All of a sudden, I guess that's not ok now. I was getting calls numerous from an unknown number on a daily basis, and they wouldn't leave messages. Finally, I decided to answer, and they said it was Fifth Third Bank. They wanted me to verify all my information, but before I did that, I wanted to know why they were calling me and wanting to know this, because my payment wasn't late. He would NOT tell me why he was calling, and him calling from an unknown number, I'm certainly not going to be verifying any information with him. He was VERY rude!!! I hung up with him, and called the bank, thinking that some guy was trying to hack into my account and I wanted to make them aware of that. Turns out, it was them calling, saying my account was past due. Now, my payment is "due" on the 6th, but i have a grade period until the 21st, so I had always made my payment on the 15th. Why now are they calling me about this when it's been like this for over a year. Why are they harassing me when I've never been late on a payment? I asked them these questions, and they provided me with no answer and were very rude in doing so. I will now be getting phone calls if my payment is not received by the 6th. I refuse to mail them something that says stop calling me--they don't deserve my 45 cent stamp. What is the point of having the grace period or late charges if you're going to harass me about making a payments when it's not even late? Leave me alone, I'm not doing anything wrong!!! Makes me not want to even make a payment to them...someone else I'm sure would like my money. Will definately not ever get a loan through Fifth Third Bank. Too much harassment, but over what?!?!? Nothing!!!
My Father has had nothing but trouble with this bank. Initially they approved the loan, then he got a letter three weeks later, saying they wouldn't finance it.
He went back to the dealer and was told it was a done deal. 3 months later he received a payment book, with 3 months late fees. He went to the branch to figure it out they restarted the loan and now it has been screwed up since. Last week they repossessed the car. After paying all sorts of fees, being directed to Elgin then redirected to Oaklawn, spending 5 hours in the repo lot and being told they have lost the car, we went home and we received a statement showing all payments have been made and now we have a credit balance and no car and no idea when they might find it.
This bank and its attitude are the reason our economy is in the state it is in. They are rude, unprofessional, and think they hold all the cards. They have no consideration for the clients and have forgotten that we are the reason they make a profit. If I treated any client like they have treated my father, I would be able to show my face in my industry. I plan to help my father sue them for this. He is 80 years old and the type of behavior Fifth Third exhibited is uncalled for. The employees wont even tell you their last names to keep you from speaking to anyone further up the chain of command with any brains or authority to help rectify a problem.
I would recommend that if you are considering an auto loan form these people, go see Tony the loanshark on the corner, Chances are he will be more reasonable to deal with.

I recently purchased a new car and the dealership financed through Fifth Third Bank because they had the best rate. My payment book had not arrived after almost 4 weeks since I purchased the car. I tried to contact the bank and spent 15 minutes trying to get through their automated system and when I finally did get to speak to a person he told me the payment book was sent out the same day I bought my car which was on a Saturday at 2:30 in the afternoon. yeah right.

I was able to get a car loan from Fifth Third Bank. The process was really easy for me and they helped me along every step. This is my first car loan and the experience has been great. I also enjoy being able to submit payments online with them.

Since I do all my banking with Fifth-Third I decided to finance my truck with them also. What made it even sweeter was that they were the lowest intrest rate the dealership found locally. I love having my loan set up to be paid automatically out of my checking account. It not only saves my time, but I don't have to worry about forgetting the payment either. I'll definitely be financing my next vehicle through Fifth-Third too.

The paper work was easy to set up. I was able to negotiate my interest rate down a little bit. They have the option to have payments automatically withdrawn from my checking so I never missed a payment or had a late fee. When I sold truck two years later they did a great job getting paperwork done and title transferred quickly.
We took out a loan for a car with fifth third. We sold the car two years later and it took them much longer to process our loan than was written in the contract, and we have yet to receive the title to transfer to the new owners who purchased the vehicle over a month ago.
In addition, they played lots of games with our interest to squeeze every possible penny out of us.
Avoid these people at all costs, they are the scum of the earth.
