I would not advise banking with this bank. All fees are maximum, and designed to benefit the Bank. No consideration for it's customers what-so-ever! Go to a credit union! I left Fifth Third two years ago, and it was the best move I could've ever made. You'll be sorry if you do business with Fifth Third Bank. I guarantee it!

I would advise against opening a checking account with fifth third. I have had nothing but problems with this bank. Their overdraft fees are crazy. They say checks are on "hold" even though they clearly state posted when you log on to your account AND you can use the funds with your debit card!!! How confusing is that?? The funds are available to use with my debit card but not for a check that comes through my account?? WTF?? They will find every way to pull as much money out of you as they can. I have paid them thousands of dollars in fees due to "posted" but "unposted" funds. I would understand if I was overdrafting my account irresponsibly, however, I ALWAYS had enough money to cover what ever was comming through. How about the way they post. They post from larges to smallest, which will impose the maximum fee everytime! Additionally, their customer service SUCKS! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

fith third is a bad bank dont trust them. My wife and I have a credit card with them and they lowerd are credit line and did not tell us then charged us for being over the credit limit. They lowerd it below what we had on it we had no chance. When we caled them they just said it,s only a 39 dollar fee. Dont trust them they dont care and they will rip you off.

Yes, it is free. Yes, it is simple. But they will take advantage of you at every turn! There is no way to receive any form of notifications when there is a problem with your account. This company and product are out-dated dinosours that need to die. Even when you try to resolve the problem they are as unhelpful as possible and their system is designed so that they screw you (I did a bank transfer of funds to get my account back in the positive, but the day the transfer posted they tacked on a new round of fees that put me back negative - I couldn't win!)
Avoid 5th/3rd Bank! A good bank should strive to make sure you have all the information you need as quickly as possible so you can effectively manage you own finances!

I really like Fifth Third after having had troubles with Bank of America. Their overdraft fees are not outrageous like BofA and they are more willing to work with a customer. The branches are more customer-oriented and I like the personal service. I just wish there were more branches in Charlotte, NC !

I had an account for three years with Fifth Third. They made several mistakes on my account. One time the over-credited my account by $1,000. It was during the holidays and I did not reconcile my account right away. I made several purchases while out of town and didn't right them in my register. So, I just logged into the internet site and started from my register from the balance it stated. Then, at the worst time they recovered the money they over-credited me. It caused $800 in fees. They would not refund the fees. They made a mistake and penalized me for it.

We had business, personal and savings accounts with Fifth Third until about a year ago. We switched because of fees. They would hold checks for a 2-3 days and not post them. This caused us to incur bounced check fees and the bank would not work with us to recover some of the fees. Very dissatisfied with the level of service. We have not experienced this frustration with our new bank.
I opened this account back in 2005. I have had only a few issues with them creating overdraft issues. None have been my fault and they are fairly decent to work with on correcting errors. The only thing that really irked me once was that they forced me to get a savings account in order to give me back the overdraft fees they charged me. I thought that was slimy, but overall I am happy and I love the online system.
I have used this account for around 7 years. It is a very simple, easy to use checking account. There are no fees of any kind that you have to worry about. The online banking from fifth third is excellent as well.
This is a very simple checking account with no strings attached. I do not write very many checks so i needed a hassle-free account. Fifty Third Bank offers this excellent no-fee checking account. Great Program!
