2.80% APY Online Savings, Still Running
The online savings account rush is abating. With the recent drop in the Federal Funds Rate, online savings accounts are headed south.
Get FNBO Direct Online Savings for... 2.80% APY with no minimums and no fees.
The company offers online billpay, certificates of deposit and even a compelling cash back credit card. These accounts, however, are only available to online savings account holders. Though the account is online only and not related to accounts that may be offered by First National's bricks and mortar operations, the online savings account can be linked to any bank.
And for those worried about the bank's stability, FNBO Direct and parent First National are part of the United States' largest privately-held banking corporation. While that doesn't mean it may not be immune to the problems befalling other major banks, private ownership helps keep the short-sellers away while keeping conservative banking at the forefront.

Online Savings Account Reviews
I feel secure with my money in FNBO. All financial magazines liste them as #1.
good enough for me.
I reviewed their website and found minimal information about their account and their bank. It was mostly quick advertising to get me to sign up, nothing substantial to make an informed decision. I had to look around more and found Venture Bank Direct, with an APY of 3.8% vs. the current 3.25% at FNBO and all the information I needed to be comfortable with a bank.
their link is off line now, very unusual for it to be under maintenance and no contact information available to call. I am worried. I wanted to transfer some money today and am not able to.
I did some pretty extensive research before opening an online savings account and after considering many options I went with FNBO. So far I love it, just a week after opening the account our interest increased a 1/2 point! They're great!
3.5% is a pretty good deal for my starting savings account. I do not have too much money in the account yet, but i am glad that the money is gaining good interest. I strongly recommend FNBO.
I signed up for this account just in time to recieve the 3.5% interest yield. this is a great deal. The online access is very easy and I am not very good with computers. The cash back credit card is a great idea although i havent used it yet - this is a savings account afterall.
