I recently shopped around for car insurance online, as recommended by FiLife, and Geico was far and away the lowest cost provider for me in NY. I also really like the Geico website and the fact that I have the option of being paperless with Geico. I pay my premiums online, my policy is online, and the only thing they've mailed me so far is my insurance card. I'm very happy with their service so far.
I have been with Geico from the very beginning - 8+ years and counting. At the time, I shopped around amongst a handful of insurance companies. They were the cheapest. I have to admit however I havent done much price comparison since.
Geico has great customer service. When I call in, they never tried to upsell me which I find horribly annoying. They make the changes I ask and it is done right the first time.
Overall, I have no complaints about their service. I wish they get rid of their caveman ads; those ads dont work for me.
I never had an auto insurance policy with Geico, but I have been in 2 car accidents with Geico car insurance policy holders, both of which were the other person's fault. Geico was great with their customer service, I drove my car to one of their many damage inspection locations and they came up with the damage estimates right then and there and even gave me a check right away in both instances.
they give you a good rate to get you on, then increase it at renewal time.
