My rating is based upon what this card is. It is a card to help people with bad credit. For those people who learned their lesson and can now handle using a credit card, this card is perfect. The fees are MUCH lower than the other card company out there (First Premier) and the ease of use of the online system and customer service is excellent. I use this card to make a $10 purchase per month and then I pay it off each month (never use more than 20% of your available credit if you are trying to increase your credit score rather than decrease it). They are reporting to all three bureaus as promised and I have seen my credit rating rise from 585 to 660 in three months. Thank you HSBC for being a company willing to extend credit when they probably lose 50% of these accounts to non payment...and that is the reason for their up front fees i'm sure.

I am a student with new credit and was forced to begin my credit through HSBC's Orchard Bank but I am really upset and concerned with the quality of internet security HSBC Orchard Bank Premium card provides. I recently had an unknown person try to pay my card through the internet with a card number completely foreign to me. When this payment bounced Orchard Bank had also charged a payment returned fee as well. When I first spoke to an agent in India which was very uncooperative and sarcastic she told me that This card company did not provide any insurances for cardholders in terms of internet fraud and in these internet circumstances could not refund or withdraw penalty fees although she saw and agreed that this payment was not my own. I also questioned how one would be able to post a payment to my account without going through a bank verification like usual. She understood how this didn't make sense but still told me there was nothing the company could provide for me. So my suggestion is find another card which will provide security on the increasingly popular internet banking front. If my credit card company is pushing my to go "paperless" and use the internet I feel like they should provide me security in this medium as well? I feel like this is abusive and of much concern to us common people, as I feel like this is a scheme to make money on penalty fees. Please look out and ask questions folks, for your money's sake!

I have a credit score of a 520-530 and was able to get an unsecured card. However they charged me a 19 dollar processing fee, and a 79 dollar annual fee. Once I got my card I held on to it for a couple of days before activating. I gave them a call and said that the annual fee was too high esp. since they charged me 19 bucks to set up the account and I was going to cancel the card because the fees were to high. After being transfered to a manager the annual fee was reduced in half to 39 bucks. So all in all it costed me around 60 dollars. Not bad considering I have such a low fico. I assume this is a great card to rebuild damaged credit especially if you can haggle for a lower annual fee.

I don't now why this card has such a low rating. I absolutely love this credit card. Granted the credit line is rather low for me $700, but the perks are great. Their is no annual fee for my card and it gives me limitless 2% cashback on everything I buy. The only caveat is that those rates are for people with excellent credit. Overall love the card and use it on a daily basis.

The general idea behind this credit card is great. But they prey on people. They will raise your interest rate up to 25% for being one day late. They target people with bad credit and make sure to keep it that way. Their business practices should be reviewed and changed. I tried to close this account and they wouldn't let me, and they tack on a fee every month. I'm just letting it go and in a few years, they'll settle with me for half of whats on the card. I'll never use this company for anything again.

The reason people are forced to use these types of credit cards are because of a history of not paying their obligations on time (and sure there may be very good reasons for that). This type of card is a last chance at qualifying for an unsecured card. Secured cards are flagged on your credit report as being secured so being offered an unsecured card is very helpful for rebuilding credit. If, however, you do not even pay this last chance card on time than sure they are going to cause you problems. For folks that will continue to pay their obligations late, this is not the card for them. In fact, credit cards are not for them at all.

I've had this card for a few years now. It was very easy to get approved for it. Also, since I have kept my account in good standing, they raised my credit amount by $200!! It is a great card to have and I'm also able to do my billing online which I love. It saves me so much time and I can view it and tell how much available money I have on the card. I would definitely recommend this credit card company!

This credit card is great if you are looking to rebuild your credit. Since I was a college student who was having problems covering bills this credit card allow me to keep afloat and not horribly ruin my credit. The customer service is great and I use the card wherever I go. I recommend this card to all my family and friends.

I have had an Orchard Bank credit card since 2005. I went through a painful divorce that left my prior perfect credit in shambles. Orchard Bank gave me a low credit limit and has raised it periodically ever since. The website is easy to use and that is how I make payments and manage my account. This is a great card to rebuild you financial life with. It has been a real help to me.
