As an ex-pat moving from London to New York, HSBC premiere is of huge benefit. Their global web site for premiere customers allows you to transfer money easily between dollars and pounds and see all your account balances on one page. Being able to go to one of the numerous branches in NYC to sort out issues with your UK account that would otherwise have to be done via phone and fax is very useful.

HSBC sucks big time. It was a huge hassle opening an account with them. I have 800 credit score, and their credit card limit was $2,000. I told them I have $100K in unused credit limit, so don't bother sending the plastic, I'll toss it. They never sent it.
Just wonder how such banks become so big...

HSBC Premier Checking accounts come with a number of benefits. There is no monthly maintenance fee if balance requirements are met and you get free HSBC ATM access. The personal internet banking is a nice touch and their free online bill pay makes doing just that a breeze.
