HSBC's Student Checking Account is a basic checking account with no maintenance fees or minimum balances. There are no charges for incoming wire transfers, HSBC ATM withdrawals, and online banking is included as well. You can get optional overdraft protection.

This is a great basic account for students. As hapit explained, it's easy to transfer money to your student. This is especially handy to give you peace of mind if your child is out of state.

I think this is a great all inclusive plan for students. The last thing you want to worry about as a student is paying bank fees or being penalized for having too little money in your account. You can easily get wire transfers from the folks, as well.
